Raring2go! visits Time by Luxmuralis at Hereford Cathedral

We were really excited to visit Hereford Cathedral to experience Time but Luxmuralis – it is indeed ‘Art on an epic scale.’

We arrived at the Cathedral on a rather wet evening, but it was warm and welcoming inside, and soon we forgot that anything outside of the show existed. This truly immersive sound and light experience offers audiences an incredible and unforgettable journey through history, science, and imagination.  Thought provoking and utterly mesmerising, this is a show you really shouldn’t miss – if any tickets are still available of course!

The images are utterly breath-taking; the massive interior of the cathedral was lit with a kaleidoscope of moving colours, patterns, pictures and words, with music to match the enormity of what we were seeing.  While visitors are free to stroll through at a pace to suit themselves, most stood or sat and stared in awe.  This is the kind of show which the word ‘awesome’ really fits.  Its perfect for all ages, and is wheelchair accessible.  The music may be a little overwhelming for some with sensory issues, and so I would recommend taking ear defenders or loops if that’s the case.

The show has been created by award-winning artistic collaboration Luxmuralis, made up of Peter Walker (sculptor) and David Harper (composer), ‘…blending contemporary art with historical contexts.’

The show ends on Saturday 24 January 2026 with allocated time slots from 6.40 – 9pm.
The light show transforms the interior of Hereford Cathedral as visitors embark upon an extraordinary exploration of the concept of time as they journey through history, science and imagination.  It is suitable for all ages and abilities.

Tickets cost £9 for adults, £6 for children (4 – 16) and free tickets for children aged 3 and under and are on sale now! Tickets can be booked in advance via the cathedral website or from the cathedral’s Ticket Desk in person or by calling 01432 374 202 (Monday – Saturday, 10 am – 5 pm). www.herefordcathedral.org/time
