Half Term Fun in Hereford & Worcester
Half term is rapidly approaching, with the kids off school from Monday 25th May – 29th May this year.
Many of us want to know about local childcare options. And we all want to know what’s on over the half term.
Here are a few of the best….
Childcare & Kids Camps
If you need childcare during your working hours, some nurseries may be able to help. Wyeside Day Nursery in Hereford is a popular choice, with it’s central location, and lots of great activities to ensure the children have fun.
The other option is to enrol the children into a local kids camps. These offer the perfect chance for your children to polish up on some of their sporting skills, or even try something new.
Team Super Sports run their mix and match camps, where your child can choose to do an entire day of the sport they love, or mix it up and receive professional coaching in a range of sports. including Football, Cricket, Rugby, Netball, Gymnastics, Hockey and Tennis. All Star Activities are running their half term holiday campo at Holmer School in Hereford, offering a range of activities, tailored to each of three age groups; reception to year 2, year 3 to year 5 and year 6 to year 8. Activities range from sports including football, basketball, tennis, softball; crafts based on the theme of the week (February’s theme is World of Books); games including relays, bulldogs, benchball, and trips including swimming, bowling, farm park and All Star Adventure Park. Oaker Wood near Kingsland in Herefordshire run kids activity days during school holidays. Each day is different and children participate in various activities including High Ropes such as our 100m Zip Wire, Gladiator Climbing Challenge & Monkey Climbing, together with the Low Ropes Assault Course, Wild Camp, Outdoor Pizza Making, Den Building, Target Shooting and Woodland Games. What’s On Over Half Term
There are loads of ‘one off’ events you wont want to miss, like Ghost Con 2026 at Richmond Club Place in Hereford on 23rd & 24th May. Ghost Con has everything comic and collectables, with Q’s Comic Store, Monkey Rocks Comics, Old Oak Comics, Adam Thomas Art, Hereford Boardgamers and many more to enjoy. For a full and fabulous day out, you can’t go far wrong with a trip to West Midlands Safari Park. Throughout May, on select dates only, you can enjoy Giraffe Jamboree – a brand-new event, celebrating one of the most iconic animals at the Park – the tower of beautiful giraffes! There will be a brand-new, exciting show, trails, competitions and the chance to win amazing prizes. There will also be the chance to see the newest members of the herd – calves Namara and Olive, as well as learning all about these incredible creatures. Visit their website here.
Ralph Court Gardens is another great day out for all the family, with 15 unique gardens to explore, including the Dragon Pool, and the fantastic Alice in Wonderland gardens. Eastnor Castle Another favourite day out destination for all the family, the grounds at Eastnor Castle are a children’s paradise. Inside the castle itself children are invited to find the hidden mouse – don’t worry, its not a living one! On 24th and 25th May there will be some added nostalgia with Eastnor Steam & Vintage weekend. There will be an impressive line up of steam engines, vintage cars, giant garden games, vintage carousel, model steam engine rides, chair swings, pony rides, nostalgic dance workshops and more! Newbridge Farm Park new for 2026 you can now visit the Jolly Jungle Soft Play – a great addition to the Cheeky Monkeys and Tiny Turtles soft play areas. This is in addition to their fabulous adventure playground, giant sandpits, swings, zipwire, hay bale barn and more! Enjoy a fast, bumpy tractor ride while you visit too! The Waterworks Museum, Hereford is another great place for all the family to enjoy – with free parking, free entry for under 16s, and the option to bring a picnic, it’s a really affordable day out too! 24th May is Operating Day, where you can see the engines working in action. Head over to The Courtyard Theatre in Hereford for some great entertainment. Ludwig Theatre Arts Theatre presents Frozen – The West End Musical from 27th – 30th May, and Rebel Tales Theatre brings The Drop of the Ocean, a wonderfully sensory and interactive show set deep in the magical waves of the ocean. Escape Quests in Ross on Wye invite you and the family to Save Sugarvale! Sugarvale is a magical candy land where everything runs on magic, generated by 5 Sacred Gummy Bears. But they have been stolen! A mischievous troublemaker, Gummy Gus, has hidden them behind puzzles, locks, and tricks throughout the shop. Swan Theatre in Worcester has the fabulous show You Choose (27th May) – every show is unique!
Based on the brilliant book by Pippa Goodhart and Nick Sharratt Nonsense Room Productions (Shark in the Park and Hairy Maclary Shows) bring you an interactive musical show for all the family. But in this show – YOU CHOOSE what happens! Using the picture book as inspiration and through a series of games and challenges each show will be unique with different characters, locations, costumes and much more every time! And on 30th May you can get out those friendship bracelets for Taylor Fever – the ultimate tribute to the sensational Taylor Swift. Find these and other events on their website here.
The Commandery in Worcester is holding another fabulous Living History event Oak Apple Day on 25th May. Families can enjoy fantastic reenactors to encounter as they make their way around The Commandery, with musket firing in the gardens, pike and cannon drills for children (and grown-ups!) to get hands-on with, history talks about Oak Apple Day and the English Civil War from Worcester Reenactors and The Battle of Worcester Society. There are wonderful refreshments available at Little Al’s Kitchen at The Commandery and enjoy fun family activities: can you find all of the beautifully decorated royal carriages around the building? The Craft Tent in Worcester offer drop in pottery painting sessions for all ages. A great option for a rainy day, or simply to inspire creativity! Visit the website here.
Webbs at Wychbold is always a great day out, with loads to see. Spend some time and pocket money at the Toy Emporium and let the children burn off some energy in the indoor and outdoor play areas. Every Tuesday is Children’s’ Storytime .
Flip Out Hereford. If you find the kids are still bouncing off the walls, you can always take them to Flip Out Hereford to let off some steam. Whatever the weather, its definitely a family favourite! Details and bookings are here.
And if its raining? Many of the great attractions mentioned here have loads to do whatever the weather, but if you are going to get wet anyway, why not make it fun, with the waves and slides at Malvern Splash this half term?
