Unwrap Joy: Creative Gift Experiences For Kids

As Christmas approaches, why not think beyond traditional toys and gadgets and give a gift that creates memories too? Experience gifts can be a lovely way to encourage creativity, try something new and spend time together. Here are a few ideas for creative gift experiences for kids in the Kidderminster, Stourbridge and Dudley areas.

🎨 Creative Workshops

For budding artists and crafty kids, a creative workshop can make a brilliant Christmas present. From pottery painting to glass and textiles, there are lots of ways to get creative!

Coffee n Clay – Hagley

At Coffee n Clay, children can choose their own pottery piece, paint it, then leave it to be glazed and kiln-fired ready to collect. They also run creative themed events and pottery-painting parties, making it a great experience gift for creative kids.

The Melting Pot – Bewdley

Pick a piece of pottery, get creative and make it your own at The Melting Pot. Their pottery-painting studio is a lovely place for children and families to spend some creative time together, and gift vouchers are available from £15.

Woodsetton Art Pottery – Dudley

For older children and teens who fancy trying something completely new, Woodsetton Art Pottery offers pottery experiences including throwing and decorating. Gift vouchers are also available.

Glass Quarter Designs – Stourbridge

For something a little different, try a fused-glass workshop at Glass Quarter Designs at the Red House Glass Cone. Make your own glass artwork, with beginner-friendly workshops including Christmas decorations and other creative projects.

Red House Glass Cone – Wordsley

It’s worth checking what’s happening at the Red House Glass Cone too. The site hosts family craft activities, glass-fusing and seasonal workshops throughout the year, alongside its independent craft studios.

The Sugar Loaf – Stourbridge

Get creative with food at The Sugar Loaf, which runs family-friendly workshops including its festive Gingerbread House Workshop, where children can build and decorate their own gingerbread house to take home.

The Chocolate Shed – Henley-in-Arden

A little further afield, but definitely worth a mention for chocolate-loving children! Choose from hands-on chocolate-making workshops for children aged 8–16 or parent-and-child sessions, with participants making their own chocolate treats to enjoy.

🎭 Theatre & Shows

For a more cultural experience, why not give tickets to a family-friendly show? Dudley and Stourbridge Town Halls have a varied programme of theatre, music and entertainment, including family shows such as Dear Santa Live in December. Gift vouchers are also available from many theatres, including Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre and Hippodrome.

🎁 A gift that lasts beyond Christmas…

Whether it’s painting pottery, making glass, decorating a gingerbread house, creating chocolate treats or enjoying a show together, experience gifts are a lovely way to give children something they’ll remember long after Christmas morning.

And don’t forget to check age restrictions, dates, availability and voucher terms before buying. If the experience doesn’t offer a physical gift voucher, you can always make your own little voucher to wrap up and give on Christmas Day!
