Looking for family-friendly activities during the May half term? Here is a round-up of what’s on at your local National Trust.

 

 

Gibside:

Saturday 27 April to Sunday 2 June.

Moth and Butterfly Trail. Flutter and fly your way around Gibside to find butterflies and moths on a family friendly trail

Wallington Hall:

Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th May

Duck Races! Head down to the river and pick a lucky duck for the race.

Races are at 11am, 11.45am, 1.30pm and 2.15pm with prizes for the first three ducks to cross the finishing line.

Ducks will be available half an hour before each race from the seating area on the river walk, £2 per duck (cash sales only).

Seaton Delaval Hall:

Half term sees the return of the Delaval Games Chest, packed full of games for you to grab and enjoy with friends and family on the South Lawn. Enjoy ball games, racket games, frisbees and more.

Cragside:

With den building areas, adventure playgrounds, trim trails, labyrinth and multiple walking paths to choose from, the kids won’t be bored this May holiday with a visit to Cragside.

Ormesby Hall:

Get musical at Ormesby Hall. Sing, play instruments, compose, listen to and be inspired, from playing with junkyard music on the field to getting loud in the laundry and more musical fun to be had this half term.

Musical Mayhem is on at Ormesby daily between Saturday 25 May – Sunday 2 June 2024 from 10.30am – 4pm with last entry at 3pm.

Souter Lighthouse and The Leas:

Join a ranger and members of the Coastal Conservation Group to search the rockpools along Souter’s shore. From Sunday 26th May 1100-1300

FREE weekly outdoor play session to help families make friends.

Each two-hour session consists of: meet and greet, warm-up games, active games, inclusive sports and time to socialise.

Join in for the full two hours, or drop in for as long as you like – whatever suits your schedule or energy levels!

Make a day of it and explore one of the most magical places in Northumberland.

Crook Hall Gardens:

Explore the maze or borrow a pair of binoculars from our wildlife hub to see if you can spot some birds. Find an outlet for all that springtime energy with free family games and mini-sports in the playing field near the pond on Thursday 30 May, including archery, football and tennis.
