Ingredients

The flavouring of your hot chocolate is personal choice, here is a basic recipe that you can tart up a bit to make it perfect for you!
For the Hot Chocolate
  • 3/4 pint milk
  • 5 1/2 oz plain chocolate chopped up
  • Sugar to taste
  • 150ml Double Cream
Added extras:
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • A vanilla pod (put in with the milk whilst you heat it up and remove before drinking) Or use vanilla extract
  • Peanut butter-add whilst warming the mixture
  • Squirty Cream
  • Mini Mashmallows
  • Malteasers
  • Flake
  • Pinch of Espresso
  • Coconut milk (take out 1/4 pint normal milk and replace with cocnut milk
  • Pinch of Cayeene-for a little kick
  • Pinch of Pumpkin Spice
  • Peppermint extract
  • Amaretto, whiskey or brandy (not for the kids!)
  • For Christmas add crushed candy cane to the top of your peppermint hot chocolate!

Method

  1. In a saucepan add the milk and cream together and warm until just simmering (if you are adding cinnamon sticks, a vanilla pod or peanut butter do this at the start.
  2. Remove from the heat (remove cinnamon or vanilla pod
  3. Pour in the chocolate chunks and mix until melted
  4. Pour into mugs or latte glasses
  5. Add your special individual touch-whilst pregnant I loved Malteasers in the bottom, then the hot chocolate, topped with whipped cream and a flake! (needless to say still trying to shift the weight after 3 years!!)
