Skating at Life opens November 8th

It’s become a firm family favourite tradition – the annual trip to Life Science Centre in Newcastle for skating and hot chocolate (or mulled wine in my case!).
This year’s rink opens on Saturday November 8th. It is fun for all ages with special junior over shoe skates for little ones plus penguin “assistants” for extra help. Full timings and prices are listed on the website.
There’s a program of special events on the ice that you may wish to either book for or avoid if you are heading for a normal skating session. These are usually 5pm onwards and will be popular so advance booking is essential.
Friday 14 November: Noughties Night – skate to some banging tunes from the 2000’s
Saturday 15 November: Skate it Off – all your favourite Taylor Swift tracks
Sunday 16 November, 7 December and 4 January 10am – 11am: Relaxed skate sessions with no music, no lights and fewer spaces available
Wednesday 19 November: Skate and Karoake – fancy singing while you skate?
Thursday 20 November: Seventeen Going Skating – go hypersonic on the ice to a Sam Fender soundtrack
Thursday 27 November: Lady Gaga Little Monsters – embrace your inner superstar and just dance
Friday 28 November: Wicked – channel your inner Elphaba or Glinda and skate to back-to-back showstopping songs from the musical and skate like no one’s watching.
Wednesday 24 December: Christmas Eve Skating always sells out. Booking essential.
