Family Nature Days at Bishops Wood, Stourport

Enjoy exploring the forest and soaking in the sights, sounds and smells of the bluebell woods at their peak. During this self-led walk you can follow the paths and trails, make some bluebell-themed crafts and find out more about these wonderful flowers and other wildlife.

Model Railway Weekend at Severn Valley Railway
3 – 4 May
Join us for a celebration of slightly smaller trains during our Model Railway Weekend at The Engine House, Highley. 
No matter whether you like O Gauge, OO Gauge or N Gauge, or something even smaller, there’ll be something for you! After travelling to Highley station by heritage train (full-size, of course!), prepare yourself for a feast of everything scaled down. 25 of the UK’s most popular layouts will be on display at our Highley Visitor Centre.

Explorer Encounters at West Midlands Safari Park
3-5 May
Meet Eddie and Eliza, our beloved explorer characters, during weekends*, bank holidays, and every day in August! (*Excluding 12th-13th and 26th-27th April.)
These curious best friends love exploring and learning about conservation and sustainability. You’ll find them either at our Explorers’ Play Park, or they may pop up around the Discovery Trail, finding new animals and making friends along the way!
Eddie and Eliza’s parents are researchers at WMSP, so while they work, Eddie and Eliza are out exploring, making new discoveries and spreading the fun!

Family shows at Dudley Borough Halls
2-3 May – *The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Stourbridge Town Hall
4 May – Wonders of the Universe, Dudley Town Hall

*The Very Hungry Caterpillar: The critically acclaimed production of The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show created by Jonathan Rockefeller features a menagerie of 75 lovable puppets.
The production faithfully adapts four stories by author/illustrator Eric Carle: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, 10 Little Rubber Ducks, The Very Busy Spider and of course, the star of the show – The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Wonders of the Universe: Immerse yourself in an afternoon of cosmic exploration, meticulously crafted to deliver a visually stunning and emotionally charged journey through the universe.
This show weaves together distinctive storytelling, live demonstrations, breath-taking visuals and live music, allowing  imaginations to soar and inspiring minds of all ages.

Arley Arboretum
5 May

Typically open Wednesday to Sunday, but does open on Bank Holiday Mondays.

Arley Arboretum is situated on the banks of the magnificent River Severn at Upper Arley, within the stunning scenery of the Arley Estate, near the historic market town of Bewdley.
One of the oldest Arboretums in Britain is home to over 300 species of trees from around the world, with restored Italian Gardens being the jewel of the crown, and features Britain’s longest Laburnum arch, measuring 65 metres.
