On 6 May, King Charles III’s coronation will take place at Westminster Abbey. To mark the occasion we will have an extra bank holiday so there will be plenty of time to get involved with the planned national or local events and initiatives and join in the celebrations.

The Big Help Out

From rolling up your sleeves to help a local group, to joining some of the UK’s best known national charities – Monday 8 May will be your chance to get involved. A list of ways you can lend a hand will be available online at www.thebighelpout.org.uk

The Coronation Big Lunch

This year the Big Lunch will be moving to May to join the Coronation celebrations, bringing neighbours and communities together to share friendship, food and fun! Join the nation in celebration and be part of history on 6-8 May. Find out more at www.edenprojectcommunities.com/the-big-lunch

Organise a street party

The UK has a long history of organised street parties to celebrate national events. Why not organise one for your neighbours to mark the coronation?

Windsor Castle concert and light show

While the pomp and ceremony of the coronation processions and service will take place on the Saturday, the BBC will be televising a concert and light show on Sunday 7 May. The event will feature world class professional performers and amateur choirs as well as a laser and drone show.

Local Events

There are all sorts of local events taking place to mark King Charles III’s coronation over the coming months that your family can choose from. Here are a few of our favourites – keep checking back as we will add more as we hear of them!

7 – 10 April: Eastnor Castle’s Coronation Chicken Easter Treasure Hunt

Enjoy our treasure hunt as we look forward to a new monarch being coronated. Find clues around the castle and grounds and hand in your entry for a chocolate treat at the end.

29 April – 7 May: King’s Coronation celebrations in Solihull

Families are cordially invited the King’s Coronation celebrations in Solihull town centre. Enjoy free, fun activities celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III.

5 May: Coronation Cruise with Dudley Canal Trust

Celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort in a way you will never forget! A Coronation Cruise with Dudley Canal Trust.

5 – 8 May:  Drayton Manor Coronation Street Party

Join us for a celebration of the King’s coronation and all things British at the UK’s best street party! With a fireworks finale, late night riding, live music – DJs and a live band, Rory’s Coronation Show, street party entertainment throughout the day and themed food & drink – experience a whole day of fun with our full day ticket or celebrate the night away with our evening only ticket.

6 May: Free screening of the Coronation and afternoon tea in Solihull

On Saturday, the proceedings will be shown on two screens in the town centre. The Core is also hosting a free Coronation Afternoon Tea and there will be pop-up activities in the town centre over the weekend.

6 – 8 May: Free Coronation event with fun fair and live events

Centenary Square, Birmingham – This free event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, with a large screen showing the Coronation and Sunday’s concert. You’ll also be able to watch live music and dance acts throughout both days, with food and drink outlets and rides for small kids.

6 – 7 May: King’s Coronation at Severn Valley Railway

Bring out the bunting and get ready for a right royal day of celebrations as we join together for the Coronation of King Charles III. For the coronation day, we’ll ensure you can celebrate in style on the Severn Valley Railway and not miss a single thing – plus, The Engine House will be full of miniature marvels for the Spring Model Railway Weekend. Let the celebrations begin with an evening of singing, dancing, comedy and music as the SVR hosts a Coronation Evening Variety Show on Saturday. On the Sunday, get ready for a rockin’, rollin’ and singin’ evening of live music on Kidderminster concourse. 

6 May : Royal Leamington Spa Town Council’s ‘King Charles Coronation Celebration’

Join us for a family friendly celebration from 10 – 5 at The Pump Room Gardens. Big Screen, Live Music, Food, Drink and much, much more.

7 May: Coronation picnic at Packwood

As part of the Coronation weekend, we’re encouraging visitors to come and celebrate with us and pack a picnic to enjoy on the tennis lawn.

8 May: Hatton’s ‘Big Help Out’ Coronation event

Hatton Country World is to host a large charity event ‘Hatton’s Big Help Out – Help For Happiness!’ on Monday 8 May from 11am as part of the celebrations around His Majesty’s Coronation. The event hopes to raise awareness of volunteering in the UK, show people how they can volunteer and make a difference in their communities, all in line with the Kings ‘Big Help Out’ national initiative on the 8 May. Visitors can enjoy a whole host of activities including target paint-ball shooting, a dog show with four different fun categories, tug-of-war competition, military vehicles & military village with a recruitment drive, laser combat, music from a Fusilier Band, zorbing, tug-a-war, foam party, village fete activities, and a performance from the Three Roses Homes. There will also be live music and stalls selling street food.

8 May: Hartlebury Castle

Join us for this special event in celebration of the coronation of King Charles III and enjoy fantastic falconry displays in the Castle’s Carriage Circle and a chance to get up close to these magnificent birds. Children can also meet our very own ‘King Henry’ and experience being crowned like a monarch in our Great Hall.

8 May: Coronation celebrations in Knowle

An unmissable event for the entire family, this day promises to be full of festive spirit, fun and an unforgettable atmosphere. This year’s celebration promises to be bigger and better than ever – with a host of activities and entertainment planned. Come and join us for a vast range of community stalls, traditional street market, food and drinks and entertainment.
