St Peter’s Good As New Sale
Record-breaking baby and children’s preloved sale is back this Spring
After breaking a record for the number of buyers through its doors, Hale’s twice-yearly baby and children’s quality preloved items sale is back this Spring at St Peter’s Assembly Rooms on Saturday 20 April.
The sale, which has raised around £18,000 for local children’s hospitals in the last five years alone, started around 40 years ago and typically has more than 5,000 quality items on offer at bargain prices.
The last sale, which took place in November 2023, raised almost £2,000 for Hugh and Freddie’s play appeal, contributing towards a complete makeover of a patient play area at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. The sale saw almost 3,000 items sold and had more than 200 buyers through its doors, a 100% increase on the sale that took place earlier in 2023.
From books to board games, clothes to shoes, toys and baby equipment, the sale has everything needed to kit children out from newborn to 10 years old. The items are high-quality featuring top brands such as Marks and Spencer, Joules, Next, Mini Boden and many more.
Vendors can register to sell for free and 25% of their profits will go to the Build to Beat Breast Cancer appeal by Manchester Foundation Trust charity. The appeal is raising funds for a new National Breast Imaging Academy (NBIA) training facility – an extension of the Nightingale Hospital site – to provide training for a generation of breast imaging experts, helping thousands more women in the region get their mammograms.
Kate Hasluck, Chair of the sale Committee, said:
“The last St Peter’s Good As New sale was busier than ever and truly is a paradise for parents. We have everything people need to kit their kids out with lovely, quality and new-to-them clothes, toys, games and books at bargain prices. The parents and carers who come to the sale typically save hundreds of pounds and many of our items still have tags on them or are brand new in box. We are looking forward to a bumper sale this Saturday 20 April and we expect to raise thousands of pounds for the Build to Beat Breast Cancer appeal too. It’s a win-win for all!”
Local buyer Rhian added:
“Buying new clothes, shoes, books and toys is a major expense and many people are trying to cut back on spending so this sale is really fantastic and saves me so much money. This is like Vinted but without the postage costs and the best thing is you get to see things in real life. It’s so much fun filling up bags with great quality stuff that I know my kids will love!”
Vendor registration for the Good As New sale opens on 13 March. Vendors should email ganstpeters@hotmail.co.uk with their name and email address and they will be given a vendor number to use to label their items.
