Magic of Science at the British Motor Museum
At Magic of Science week this half term, children can get up close to one of the Ford Anglias which starred in the film Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and then join the mad scientists for some magical, mind-blowing experiments or extraordinary family tours plus make an optical illusion to take home!
Magic of Science Show
25-27 October – 10.30am / 11.30am / 1.30pm / 2.30pm
The mad scientists will be performing some mind-blowing experiments in our not-so-secret lab! The Professor is stuck in the past and thinks a car is a horse-drawn carriage. But don’t worry, Dr Pumpkin will bring him back to the present in this 20-minute show which explores the amazing invention called the car! Along the journey the show features all kinds of magical science – from friction to levitation!
No need to pre-book, just sign up at the family activity station when you arrive. Suitable for all the family.
Extraordinary Family Tour
22-24 & 28-30 October – 11.30am & 1.30pm
Join Professor Pickle or Doctor Pumpkin for an interactive family tour, exploring the Museum to seek out the extraordinary in our collection for this half term. Prepare to be amazed! Suitable for all the family.
Black Cat Trail
Every day
Search around the Museum for the hidden black cats and, with a torch, discover the colour of each cat’s eyes! Available every day, just pick up a trail sheet from the Welcome Gallery by the main entrance and remember to return for your sticker! Suitable for all the family.
Make your own optical illusion!
Come and make your own Thaumatrope – an optical toy which was very popular in Victorian times! You can draw it, cut it out, colour it in, paint it, and even add glitter. You won’t believe your eyes when you make your own optical illusion! It’s magic!
Drop into our Learning Space between 10am – 2.30pm. Suitable for 5+ with adult supervision.
NOTE: All activities are included in Museum admission. All activities are suitable for 3+ years with adult supervision, unless otherwise specified.
