Redditch Palace Theatre presents Beauty and the Beast Pantomine
Once upon a time in a country far, far away there lived a vain and arrogant man The Count of Monty Don. One day whilst travelling his domain he upsets an enchantress, who instantly transforms him into a terrifying Beast. The only way he can escape this fate and break the spell, is to learn to love another and earn her love in return before the last petals of a magical rose fall otherwise he will die.
Professor Crackpot and his daughter Beauty live in a nearby village and whilst on his way to Paris to sell his new invention the Professor looses his way in the deep dark wood and comes across the Beast’s castle. Remembering his daughter’s wish for him to return with a rose as a gift for her, the professor picks one of the most beautiful roses’ from the Beast’s grounds. The Professor is caught red handed by the Beast who threatens to imprison him, only agreeing to release him on the condition that he sends back to the castle the first person that should great him upon his return to the village. Delighted to see her father return Beauty races to greet him, much to the Professor’s dismay. The Beast’s henchmen capture Beauty and take her back to the castle to await her fate.
As time passes and the rose petals begin to fall the Beast becomes convinced that Beauty will never see beyond his monstrous features to the man behind the mask.
Will true love prevail?
Meanwhile the boorish Gaston, a local huntsman, who has set his sights on marrying Beauty whether she wants to or not, decides to rescue her from the Beast’s Castle and force her to be his wife.
This enchanting pantomime based on the children’s classic tale, will delight audiences of all ages.
