Earth Day Spring Clean at Dalby Forest
This Earth Day, the Ranger Team at Forestry England – Dalby Forest are teaming up with Trash Free Trails to run a community litter pick. Earth Day is an international call to take action to protect the place we call home. We’re calling on runners, riders and roamers to do your bit and clean up your trails.
How do I get involved?
Just head down to the Courtyard, Low Dalby and visit the pop-up stand to get your litter picking equipment from us. Then, head out onto the trails and get busy! Bring your collected rubbish back and we will do a count. Why not break up your litter-picking with a visit to the Courtyard Café, just around the corner from our stand? Later in the day we will be running a guided trail clean, feel free to join in!
What is Trash Free Trails?
Trash Free Trails is a community-focused, non-profit organisation; a positive, inclusive call to arms for riders, runners and roamers alike.
They exist to protect our trails and the wild places they take us, and they’re starting with single-use pollution (aka – Litter!). Their mission is to re connect people with nature through the simple yet meaningful act of removing single use pollution from wild places.
But why?
As outdoor sports-people, we live and breathe the very environments that we seek to protect. We depend on these places for our mental health and wellbeing, they are our habitats and we can no longer ignore what we are seeing in every city park or mountain summit that we explore.
Like our oceans and streets, our trails and wild places are becoming choked by plastic pollution. At the same time we are witnessing the social and emotional impacts of ‘environmental disconnection’, habitat loss and even ‘eco-grief’ on the mental health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
