Dominoes Newcastle
Sunday 9th August, 2.30pm-5pm (the fall will take place at 4.30pm and last approx. 30mins)
A simple idea, on a monumental scale.
Dominoes Newcastle by Station House Opera is the headline finale of NOVUM Summer Festival – a spectacular, city-wide artwork culminating in a giant domino run through Newcastle on Sunday 9 August.
Across one day, thousands of breezeblocks will form a sculptural chain running east to west through the city centre, across streets, into venues, through public spaces and off buildings, pausing for bold, playful structures before continuing its journey.
Threading through Newcastle’s historic streets and everyday places, Dominoes connects neighbourhoods, landmarks and communities in a powerful chain reaction – a shared moment shaped by the city itself.
Built by 300 volunteers and witnessed by thousands, this is a one-day celebration of Newcastle in motion.
