Christmas at Croome

Christmas at Croome

Immerse yourself in a captivating Christmas experience at Croome

This festive season, Croome invites you to immerse yourself in a magical Christmas experience inspired by nature. Visitors to the National Trust house and parkland near Pershore can explore the festively decorated rooms of the Court’s ground floor and discover ‘Rapturous Delight’, a specially commissioned, immersive video projection celebrating Croome’s landscape through the seasons.

‘Rapturous Delight’, which runs from Friday 6 to Sunday 22 December, is inspired by Croome’s ‘Pages from Nature’ theme, celebrating the 200-year anniversary of the publication of the Hortus Croomensis – a 19th century guidebook to Croome’s wonderful parkland and instrumental in the parkland’s restoration.

‘Rapturous Delight’ has been created by Leo & Hyde – a digital arts, music and theatre company – in partnership with audiovisual design and technology organisation, Focal Studios.

‘It’s very exciting to develop a projection experience in response to the Hortus Croomensis for Croome this Christmas. The Long Gallery is so full of visual inspiration, and then on top of that, the Hortus Croomensis is full of delightful imagery. It’s a real Christmas treat for our team to be responding to it with a visual feast of a projection experience. We can’t wait to share the fruits in a few weeks’ time’ says Leo Mercer, Creative Producer/Writer of Leo & Hyde.

Christmas at Croome this year promises to be special because it is so connected to the stories we tell about the history of our landscape and the architectural significance of our buildings. Leo & Hyde have brought these to life in the most creatively captivating way, whilst our team has worked tirelessly to create experiences that will excite and delight our visitors throughout the festive season. We can’t wait to share it.” says Jenine McGaughran, Creative Producer, National Trust.

Other Festive events at Croome include:

  • The house, visitor centre, and church will be dressed for Christmas from Saturday 30 November until Sunday 5 January with plant displays in the natural and haphazard style of mid to late 18th-century floral fashions.
  • In the parkland, discover a series of fantastical characters created as part of ‘Wild Imagination’ – a new animation by artist Sarah Taylor Silverwood and young people from Pershore.
  • Due to two sell-out creative workshops, Croome have added an additional date for Christmas card printing with art practitioner Maggi on Thursday 28 November from 1 pm to 3 pm. Either bring along your own ideas or work with Maggi to develop your designs which you will then draw into printing blocks before using inks to make your own set of ten Christmas cards. Tickets are £25 per person and are bookable through the Croome website.
  • Croome’s tradition of hosting local choirs in St Mary Magdalene Church continues in 2024 with free performances on Saturday 30 November, Saturday 7 December and Saturday 14 December, featuring Roses Theatre Choir, Pershore & Winchcombe Community Choirs and Voices Unlimited.
