BACP Therapy Sessions

BACP Therapy Sessions

Free event in Manchester: Pip Millett talks music and mental health with BBC 6 Music’s Nemone Metaxas

Manchester-born singer-songwriter Pip Millett will join BBC Radio 6 Music DJ and therapist Nemone Metaxas for an intimate conversation about music, mental health and her own experience of therapy at Renae in Manchester’s Northern Quarter on Sunday 1st November.

When: Sunday 1st November, 13:00pm
Where: Renae, Northern Quarter, 45-47 Thomas St, Manchester al
Tickets: Free, book here: DICE

The free event is part of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy’s (BACP) Therapy Sessions, a series of live conversations exploring the relationship between music, mental health and therapy.

In conversation with Nemone Metaxas (BBC Radio 6 Music presenter, DJ and BACP registered therapist), Pip will discuss how her mental health experiences have shaped her songwriting and journey with therapy. The pair will talk about the importance of processing difficult emotions and how human connection can help us make sense of how we feel.

Pip Millett highlights why she’s taking part in BACP’s Therapy Sessions series: “My mental health is always inspiring my writing – whether I’m in a happy or sad mood. My best songs are written in reflection, not when I’m going through the emotion right there and then. I have to step out of myself and look at it from the outside.

“Early adulthood can throw lots of challenges our way, but therapy can help to navigate these. It’s a long-term investment in yourself and can change your life.

“I’m taking part in the Therapy Sessions series because I want to share that experience and help make the idea of speaking to a professional feel less daunting for someone who’s unsure where to start.”

Whether you’re a fan of Pip Millett’s music or curious about what therapy is actually like, join us at this event.

You’ll need to grab tickets beforehand so visit DICE to get yours today and find out more about BACP’s Therapy Sessions series.
