Altrincham’s Lantern Parade and Nativity Journey Returns – Saturday 13th December 2025
With just a month to go, Altrincham BID, the team behind Visit Altrincham, is delighted to announce the return of the town’s much-loved Lantern Parade and Nativity Journey on Saturday 13th December 2025.
In partnership with St George’s Church and the Altrincham Garrick Playhouse, this free, family event brings the Nativity story to life across Altrincham, with music, storytelling and a magical lantern parade.
From 12 noon, families can collect Nativity Trail Cards from Stamford Square to begin their festive journey and meet characters from the Nativity story at locations throughout the town. Live performances from local schools and community choirs will run on the Stamford Square stage during the afternoon.
Lantern-making workshops will take place at OYEZ Arts in Altrincham Town Hall (bookable via Eventbrite), before the Lantern Parade gathers in Goose Green at 4pm and sets off at 4.45pm. The parade, featuring the full Nativity cast, local schoolchildren, lantern puppets and the Sale District Scout and Guide Band, will finish in Stamford Square for a Live Nativity Performance at 5.30pm.
Mandy White, Director of Altrincham BID, said: “The Lantern Parade and Nativity Journey truly capture the spirit of Christmas in Altrincham. It’s a wonderful opportunity for families to come together, explore the town and celebrate the festive season.”
Full details including the Lantern Parade route and location of the Nativity characters will be shared soon! Find more about Christmas events in Altrincham on VisitAltrincham.com or follow @visitaltrincham on social media.
The event is produced by Altrincham BID and supported by headline sponsor the Stamford Quarter and the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
