A Taste of Altrincham
27th February to 8th March
Explore A Taste of Altrincham’s diverse programme of food, drink and family-friendly experiences
A Taste of Altrincham returns for 2026 with an expanded programme of food, drink and creative events celebrating the town’s independent hospitality scene. Running from Friday 27th February to Sunday 8th March, the ten-days will feature workshops, talks, tastings, demonstrations and experiences hosted by venues across the town centre.
This year’s programme has been designed to appeal to a wide audience, showcasing not only great food and drink but also the stories, skills and personalities behind Altrincham’s independent businesses with plenty happening for families and younger visitors too.
Among the standout events is Blanchflower Does Dinner, a rare evening opening from the popular bakery and café, offering a four-course dinner focused on hyper-local, seasonal ingredients and bold, thoughtfully crafted dishes. Wine lovers can also enjoy a Wine & Cheese Night at Alibi, pairing five wines with five cheeses in a relaxed, social setting.
The programme also includes a strong line-up of talks and hands-on workshops. In Conversation with Emma Thackray, founder of gut-friendly drinks brand Hip Pop, will explore how a kitchen experiment grew into a nationally stocked business, sharing insights into building a values-led brand. Food fans can get involved themselves at the Samosa Chaat Workshop with Shere Khan Kitchen, learning how to create the much-loved Indian street food alongside the team behind the restaurant or learn how to create your own Charcuterie Cup with Amy Regan from Kit:ch, who is the queen of graze style catering.
Live culinary action comes courtesy of The Ultimate Altrincham Chef Challenge, hosted by Cheshire Cookery School, where two local chefs go head-to-head in a mystery bag cook-off using locally sourced ingredients. Baking enthusiasts can also join MOST Bakery’s Sourdough Class, led by co-owner Matt, a finalist in the 2025 Baking Industry Awards or their Patisserie Foundations workshop led by head pastry chef Laura.
There is also plenty on offer for children and families throughout the festival. Creative craft workshops with OYEZ Arts sit alongside hands-on cooking sessions for young food lovers, delivered by Cook Stars and Cheshire Cookery School, giving children the chance to learn new skills and get involved in the fun.
Adding a competitive edge to the celebrations is Altrincham’s Ultimate Pudding Competition, inviting amateur bakers to show off their skills and compete for the title of Altrincham’s best dessert. Elsewhere in the programme, experiences range from Waistline, Wine & Dine at Jenna Patties, combining Caribbean movement, food and storytelling, to tasting events such as Sicilian Wine Tasting at Bar Etna and Spring Wine Tasting at Hive Stores, celebrating seasonal flavours and expertly paired wines. Two Brothers Coffee is hosting a Coffee Cupping event and a Latte Art Throwdown which will see the best baristas from across Altrincham’s vibrant coffee scene go head-to-head in a latte art knock-out tournament.
