STAGECOACH HEREFORD: CREATIVE COURAGE FOR LIFE.

Stagecoach Hereford runs every Saturday morning in term time at St Mary’s High School, Lugwardine, HR1 4DR, where students aged 4 to 18 receive tuition in singing, dancing, and acting from dedicated specialist teachers.

Many parents tell us how their children have benefited from our classes – for some it’s a new passion for the performing arts; for others it’s an increase in confidence which shows in both their school and social life; for many it’s the new friends they see each weekend.

“… Stagecoach Hereford has been fantastic for our daughter … The skills our daughter has learned and friendships she has made through Stagecoach will go with her long after her time with them comes to an end…” Stagecoach Parent.

“…One of our children was incredibly shy and didn’t like to talk or engage with others so we thought we would try Stagecoach to develop her skills. We were not disappointed! … I would highly recommend Jon and his team at Stagecoach Hereford…” Stagecoach Parent

Our Main School classes:

Main school classes are open to students from 6 to 18 of all abilities. Classes run for three hours every Saturday morning in term time, with students working in a small group of students with supportive specialist teachers and will enjoy:

  • an hour of singing from shows, films, and a variety of popular music,
  • an hour of dance using elements of modern, jazz, and other styles,
  • and an hour of drama covering a wide range of work and improvisation skills.

The variety within the sessions keeps them focused and enthused and, after three hours of active, stimulating classes, they are alert and stretched mentally and physically.

With three 12-week terms a year, lessons are structured with one term focusing on the skills of singing, dancing, and acting; another allowing students to practice and hone these skills and demonstrate their class work at the end of term; and our summer term seeing students gain performance practice in a theatre show in front of friends and family.

Our Early Stages classes:

Children from 4 to 6 are welcome to enrol in our 90-minute Early Stages classes where students work in a small group with supportive specialist Early Stages teachers. Each week they enjoy 30 minutes of singing where children learn new songs and find out about rhythm, timing and how sounds are formed; 30 minutes of dance which gives them the confidence to try new dance moves; and 30 minutes of drama which allows budding young actors to role play and practise improvisation and storytelling.

Sign up for a two-week trial:

We offer a two-week trial period at the start of each term for both our Main School and Early Stages classes so that students can give it go before signing up. To book your two-week trial place, visit www.stagecoach.co.uk/hereford or call for more details on 01432 820818.

What parents say:

Parents tell us over and over again how their children have benefitted from an increase in confidence:

“ … Stagecoach Hereford is more than a stage school. It’s a family. Jon and the team encourage, support, and teach young people with such enthusiasm and care. They don’t “just” teach theatre arts, they grow confidence alongside a love for theatre arts…”

“… Our daughter grew her social skills and her confidence, and the Stagecoach family encouraged and supported her every step of the way. Her new confidence and skills transferred into her day-to-day life and to school where she eventually became deputy head girl. I would highly recommend Jon and his team at Stagecoach Hereford. The investment in your child, whatever age, is worth it! …”

What students say:

“… I attended Stagecoach Hereford for eight years and they were some of the best years of my life. I made amazing friends, and learnt some incredible life skills, including perseverance, self-control, and the ability to talk to anyone and everyone. Stagecoach really increased my confidence. I was an anxious kid, but you wouldn’t know that now if you met me. Stagecoach helped me create some amazing memories, and, even though staying in theatre is no longer my career goal, it taught me some transferable skills that help me now as I learn how to help other people. The shows were always a blast, and I’ll hold everything I did and learned with me for the rest of my life. Thank you, Stagecoach! …”

“… Stagecoach Hereford was the best thing I could have found. It made me into who I am today. It was the favourite part of my week and I looked forward to it every day. It gave me confidence and lifelong friends …”

“… Stagecoach not only sparked an enduring passion for theatre, but a sense of confidence and creativity that spurred forward my timid teenage self. As a result, I went on to star in and produce productions while at university with the fond memories of my earlier Stagecoach experiences urging me to do so. I looked forward to practicing, performing, and having fun with my friends there every week! …”

“… Through the 6 years I spent at Stagecoach as a student, and the subsequent years as an assistant, I have been impressed and inspired by the school. The staff are dedicated to the children’s safety, enjoyment and development, and the quality of teaching is excellent. From personal experience I know that the skills and potential of every child are appreciated, nurtured, and displayed in each performance …”

“… I would like to thank Stagecoach for my skills beyond the stage, my love of the performing arts, and for encouraging strengths I didn’t know I had …”
