Wild Bricks at Dudley Zoo Trail & Castle
We visited Dudley Zoo & Castle for the launch of their new Wild Bricks trail!
This is a must for brick enthusiasts old and young!
Wild Bricks is a spectacular trail of life-sized endangered animals, all built from thousands of toy bricks.
There’s 17 brick animals to find and a trail map that allows you to tick off what you find with the chance to win an exclusive goody bag giveaway each week.
We watched as the final brick animal was unveiled – an incredible lion located next to (you’ve guessed it!) – the lion enclosure, but not all of the sculptures are quite so easy to find.
There’s lots more to track down but I won’t tell you them all so that you can discover them for yourself.
All 17 species all feature on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List, which highlights animals and plants that need our help as they are in danger of disappearing for ever.
My favourite was the elephant and its calf – which brought back happy memories of watching an elephant being given a wash when I visited in the 1990s, when the elephants were where the wooden children’s play area is now by the Meercats.
Having spent many enjoyable days out at the zoo over the years as a family we found that following the Wild Brick Trail gave a us a new way to experience the zoo and beautiful castle grounds.
As well as the Wild Brick Trail there’s a daily programme of animal talks, ride the vintage chairlift and land train, visit the 4 play areas, ‘Ow Bin Ya Sands’ beach, fun fair and 11th century castle.
