The year is 793 and the people of Bamburgh can see ships approaching Holy Island… the Vikings are coming!
Step back in time and experience the sights, sounds and skills of the Viking and Saxon worlds at Bamburgh Castle.
Watch warriors clash in the combat arena, then test your own skills and decide where your loyalties lie – will you be a Saxon or a Viking?
Strike your own Viking coin with our mint master, discover what the Vikings ate through live cooking demonstrations, and learn how Viking and Saxon clothing was made with weaving, spinning and sewing displays.
You can also make your own braids, try your hand with a lucet, meet our Viking fur trader and enjoy stories from the mead hall.
Younger visitors can try on Viking clothing, chat to the warriors, play with shields and swords in the arena, and enjoy traditional games including Hnefatafl and Merrells.
This event is included with admission to Bamburgh Castle.
