Severn Arts
Severn Arts is a thriving charitable arts company formed in June 2018, bringing high quality music and arts to a wide range of people across Worcestershire. We lead Herefordshire and Worcestershire’s Music Education Hub, funded by Arts Council England, teaching music in all types of education settings, on our travelling Music Box and in our music groups, bands and orchestras which meet outside of school.
We are commissioned by Worcestershire County Council to deliver the County Arts service and by Worcester City Council to support community festivals. We also work in partnership with Malvern Hills District Council and Reimagine Redditch to support the creative sector to grow, increase engagement and develop audiences. Severn Arts is committed to offering new, inclusive arts activities that focus on widening access to the arts for all, with a particular emphasis on children and young people.
Music Groups, Orchestras, Bands and Choirs
There is no shortage of reasons why participating in a music group, band or orchestra can benefit children and young people; the opportunity to create something beautiful, have fun, make new friends, relieve stress, develop musical teamwork, gather unique experiences for CVs, learn and play a varied repertoire… above all, music is a shared experience.
FREE Music Centre Groups:
- Lift Off! – For beginners (a few notes to Grade 1), relaxed and fun sessions to build confidence and make friends.
- String Stars! – For Violin, Viola, Cello or Double Bass players (Grade 1–3). Piano players may also be welcome.
- Blast Off! – For wind, brass and percussion players (Grade 1–3).
Music Centre groups are free of charge. Please encourage any friends who play instruments to come and join us. You are welcome to join at any time during the Autumn and Spring term.

Studio Sessions
Our Studio Sessions aim to give young people, aged 8–21 years, the chance to learn how to record and produce their own music, using state-of-the-art drum machines, synthesizers, midi instruments and Logic Pro software.
Sessions run in nine-week course blocks on Saturday mornings in Worcester. Groups are split into ages 8–12 and 13–21, with a maximum of 14 students. Participants spend time both in the rehearsal room and on the Music Box bus using recording and production technology, working with specialist teachers and industry professionals.
Instrument Hire
Severn Arts also offers instrument hire, making it easier for children and young people to get started with learning an instrument without the upfront cost of purchasing one. This allows more people to access music opportunities and take part in lessons, groups, and ensembles.
