Tiny Planet
Tiny Planet is Half a String’s new project for ages 5-11yrs. With live percussion composed by Suitman Jungle and ethereal folk songs by Avi Simmons our audience are taken on journey to explore how we all sometimes feel gigantic and small.
A planet sits at the centre of a stage. This planet is small it fits in a theatre after all, but it is also tiny. It only has room for a single tree, a stream wraps itself all the way around and its no bigger than a house. The planet can be explored in a matter of minutes, but it is the centre of a galaxy.
Puppetry is used to manipulate gravity, live percussion and folk song resonates with it’s stories, and lights and clouds orbit this rich miniature world. A wanderer arrives and explores this planet, witnessing the delicate cycles as the audience uncovers all about this exciting new mini-earth. But something is wrong; lines are not lining up, things are the wrong way round and gravity is backwards. Only carefully listening to this fragile sphere will provide the answers needed to save it.
