Weekend Performing Arts Academy in Romford
WEEKEND PERFORMING ARTS ACADEMY – Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts

Each week, children aged 4 to 18 take part in engaging, hands-on learning in the performing arts. Through project‑based learning, young people gain real‑world industry skills while developing self‑belief, teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving skills to name the least. These are qualities that stay with them long after their weekend session ends.
For Ages 4–6: Poppets Classes
PQA Romford offers 90-minute Poppets classes, a playful, nurturing class for our youngest performers. Each session is filled with:
-
Storytelling
-
Movement and music
-
Acting and singing
-
Imaginative play
Whether children arrive bursting with energy or feeling a little shy, Poppets helps them build early self-belief, develop listening skills and grow their social skills, all while having fun in a warm, supportive environment.
For Ages 6–18: Main Academy
PQA Upminster and PQA Romford both offer main academy sessions, where each week young people receive professional performing arts training delivered by experienced teachers across three exciting classes:
Musical Theatre
A dynamic blend of singing, dancing and acting that builds performance technique and confidence.
Film & Television
Hands‑on experience with real equipment, learning how to perform for camera and work as part of a production crew.
Comedy & Drama
Developing improvisation skills, character work and storytelling through script work and comedy.
These sessions encourage collaboration, creativity, and self‑expression, helping young people discover more about themselves while building a wide range of transferable skills.
PQA offers a wealth of opportunities beyond weekly classes, including West End performances, Film Festivals, national competitions and access to its in‑house talent agency.
