Summer is a wonderful time to enjoy the water with your little ones, whether at the beach, swimming pool, paddling pool or on holiday. Water provides fantastic opportunities for fun, learning and family time, but safety should always come first.

💦 Stay close and supervise at all times
Young children should always be within arm’s reach around water. Drowning can happen quickly and quietly, so never rely on older siblings to supervise.
💦 Check your surroundings
When visiting a new pool, lake or beach, take a moment to assess the area. Be aware of water depth, currents, safety signs and designated swimming zones.
💦 Choose lifeguarded beaches
If you’re heading to the coast, swim between the flags and learn what the different lifeguard flags mean.
💦 Secure swimming pools
When staying somewhere with a pool, ensure there are gates, fences or barriers to prevent unsupervised access.
💦 Remember home safety
Empty paddling pools after use and store them upside down. Always supervise bath time and empty the bath immediately afterwards.
