Review – Here and Now A Brand New Musical
Here and Now A Brand New Musical featuring the hit music of Steps is the stomping uplifting story of Caz (Rebecca Lock) and her work colleagues who work at the local super market. They’re all a bit unhappy with life and want a bit more but are too scared to go for it, Caz has a big birthday coming up so they all make a pact to fulfill their destiny with a summer of love.
Caz has her hopes and dreams for the future but her husband Gareth( Gary Milner) is unsure and is wavering in his commitment. She won’t give up and it’s the last thing on her mind to do so. She’s been offered a very lucrative deal that she can’t refuse but is it one for sorrow? Rebecca Locks vocal talent is truly exceptional and blew the audience away with her range, depth and emotional delivery of all the songs-amazing!
Neeta (Hiba Elchikhe) has a crush on Ben (Dan Partridge) but gets all tongue tied when he’s around Love’s got a hold of her heart so she throws herself into her work and art, can she fulfill her destiny with a summer of love? Hiba’s singing is amazing and she can belt out a tune!
Vel (Sharlene Hector) is just going with the flow, going to work at the store but isn’t quite happy with life. She’s going out with the reliable Lesley (John Stacey) but wants more, a chain reaction has started in the store, will she fulfill her destiny ? Sharlene is a power house of vocal talent and has been in lots of bands to include Basement Jaxx.
Robbie ( Blake Patrick Anderson) works at the store and likes to go out and party, he is scared of commitment so just loves them and leaves them! Then he meets Jem (River Medway) and he’s too scared to ask the question Say You’ll be mine and he gets it all wrong so will it end in a tragedy? You’ll have to go and watch the show to find out!
This show will have you sitting on the edge of your seat, dancing in your seat then singing along ! It’s one of the most joyous shows I’ve seen and I was completely blown away with all the staging, singing and of course the fantastic ensemble. Shout out to Finty Williams(Patricia) and Helen Colby (Tracey) who were hilarious and had everyone LOL with their fab one liners! Here and Now is a 5,6,7,8 star performance that is a must see show that will never be better best forgotten.

Leading cast just announced includes Rebecca Lock (Elf: The Musical, MAMMA MIA!), Hiba Elchikhe (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), Sharlene Hector (Vocalist of Basement Jaxx, Dreamgirls) and Blake Patrick Anderson (Be More Chill) as the four friends who will stomp into Birmingham this November, with further casting to be announced!
