My name is Becky, I live in Bromsgrove and I’m mom to Sally who is currently 5 years and to a Wire Fox terrier called Fern who quickly realised the new addition to the family meant more scraps on the floor and another playmate.
I have been a primary school teacher and a private tutor for the past 8 years and have taught children aged 4- 14. My passion is to give them the confidence and skills to be the best that they can be and achieve their goals.
Whilst on maternity leave, I started to attend Lullababy classes, after a recommendation from a friend, and found the mix of baby development activities and baby sensory play was fun for Sally and mommy. Sally really looked forward to meeting her friends and the classes were great for her development. It was also a wonderful way to meet other like-minded moms; have a chat, share advice and experiences and make new friends. Something, that as a new mom I really needed.
From my experience as a teacher, I really appreciated the care and thought that had been put into the planning and the range of activities that kept my busy little girl’s focus and always put a huge grin on her face alongside an abundance of giggles.
When I discovered that Lullababy was looking to expand, I realised that it would be the perfect opportunity for me to have the work/life balance that I wanted for my family. It also lets me use my existing skills and knowledge as a teacher to help your baby’s development. The first few years are so important in a child’s life and how they are nurtured will have a big impact on how babies develop into an adult. So, it is such a privilege and pleasure to be able to be able to bring Lullababy baby classes to Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch and hopefully give other moms the wonderful experiences and memories that Lullababy gave Sally and me.
I look forward to welcoming you along! xx
OUR CLASSES
Step 1: 5 week programme for babies from birth to 5 months
A small group of local caregiver and baby partnerships.
Week One – Baby Massage
During week one we will get to know each other over tea/coffee and biscuits. Share and understand what you want to get out of the course, don’t worry it won’t seem like school at all! . I will then introduce you to Baby Massage, share some of the benefits and when you should massage as well as how to incorporate it into your daily routine. Don’t worry, this is always at your pace and to fit with your homelife. – Week 1. we focus on the Legs and Tummy so we also talk about colic, how to relieve its symptoms, settling techniques and ways to encourage your babies to poo and ease constipation.
Week Two – Baby Massage and Tummy Time Techniques
Week 2 will be chest, arm and back massage, we also think about the wins and challenges we have had over the week and share if you want to. This will lead nicely into Tummy time, where you will explore together some interesting new Tummy time techniques, that you can explore together right from birth. And, hopefully make it more engaging and a time to enjoy together.
Week Three – Baby Yoga
This week is all about movement! But with music added in. We will be helping your baby to stretch and strengthen their muscles to promote flexibility, physical development, balance and co-ordination, and the vestibular system. We also chat about how these help your baby. Yoga is a great way to encourage calm and reduces stress for both you and your baby, as well as being a range of short activities to music that are easily added to your routines at home. You also get a link to the YOGA playlist we use as well. We will finish of our session with some sensory play with the UNDER THE SEA SENSORY canopy and sensory lights; that helps to promote – object permanence, visual tracking and the vestibular system (and what these mean!).
Week Four – Paediatric First Aid
This week my wonderful, fully trained Paediatric First Aid Instructor (You will be in great hands) will lead most of the session. A difficult subject, that understandably may trigger some unwanted feelings, but an important one! You will look at;
Breathing Issues
How to conduct a primary survey
How to carry out CPR on a baby under 12 months
Choking and action for choking of a baby under 12 months
You will have the opportunity to ask questions and practice the above on demonstration manakins as part of the course, so you can ensure you are 100% confident about what you have learnt. You will also receive a copy of notes from the sessions as well.
Week Five – Sensory Play and Baby Graduation
By now you will all know each other well – you will hopefully have met up and spoken outside of class. You will definitely, have chatted in your private What’s App group; and may have even booked onto step 2 together so you can continue your new friendships at group. This week we will be celebrating what you have all taken away from the course and how your babies are benefiting – we will be have a sensory themed class, followed by hot drinks, biscuits and graduation photos – you will also take home a personalised keepsake certificate.
