Autin Dance and MAC: Light Up Fest Lantern Procession
Get ready to brighten up the winter evening as we set off on our first magical lantern procession – transforming MAC and Cannon Hill Park into a glowing wonderland. Willow and paper lanterns will illuminate the sky, led by a glorious array of performers, musicians and community cast. Everyone is welcome.
Dress up warm!
This project is proudly delivered by Autin Dance Theatre, commissioned by Midlands Arts Centre and supported by Birmingham City Council. All lanterns will be tethered and biodegradable.
Want to get involved?
We’re hosting a series of lantern-making workshops at MAC every Tuesday, where everyone is welcome – no experience needed. Join us at 1-4pm or 5-8pm to craft glowing lanterns from willow and paper and be a part of this spectacular celebration.

Johnny Autin, Artistic Director of Autin Dance Theatre, says:
“We’ve always wanted to put on a live outdoor event bringing communities and professionals together,
so I am thrilled that we can work with MAC on this wonderful winter lantern procession, which will see
a range of local community groups working with professional artists to produce beautiful lanterns
together at creative, accessible workshops
