Northumberland Libraries’ offer a range of fun, engaging, and educational activities for children and families. The events are designed to inspire a love of reading, creativity and learning, all within our community spaces across Northumberland. Whether you’re looking for story times, craft sessions or hands-on workshops, there is something for every age group and interest.
Storytime Adventures
- Location: Various Northumberland Library branches
- Ages: 0-5 years
- Description: Bring your little ones for an enchanting story hour filled with tales, rhymes, and songs! Our librarians create a lively experience, sparking young imaginations with stories that transport them to magical places. Parents and carers are welcome to join in the fun!
Science Fun for Kids
- Description: Dive into the world of science, technology, engineering, art, and math! Kids can explore hands-on experiments, build simple robots, and discover the wonders of the scientific world in a safe and friendly environment. Perfect for curious minds and future innovators!
Family Crafting Corner
- Description: Get creative as a family! Each week, we provide new craft materials and themes to encourage kids and parents to make something unique together. From painting and clay modeling to seasonal crafts, there’s something for every skill level. Come make memories—and maybe a little mess too!
Teen Writers’ Workshop
- Description: For young writers looking to hone their craft, our workshop offers guidance on storytelling, poetry, and creative expression. With tips from local authors and opportunities to share your work, this workshop is a supportive space to grow your writing skills and find your voice.
Sensory Playtime
- Description: Designed for our youngest visitors, Sensory Playtime offers an array of touch, sound, and sight experiences for toddlers. With gentle guidance from library staff, children can enjoy colorful toys, musical instruments, and soft materials to engage their senses.
