The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts (PQA) is a dynamic and inclusive academy dedicated to nurturing young talent in the realms of film and TV, musical theatre, comedy, and drama. PQA provides a unique, hands-on learning experience that encourages creativity, confidence, and a deep understanding of the performing arts.
Our curriculum is designed to cover a broad spectrum of the arts, ensuring that students receive a well-rounded education. In our film and TV modules, students engage in scriptwriting, acting for the camera, and production, gaining practical experience in front of and behind the camera. Our musical theatre sessions blend singing, dancing, and acting, allowing students to develop their skills in an integrated and supportive environment. For those with a flair for humor, our comedy and drama classes offer training in improvisation, character development, and performance techniques, fostering both creativity and technical skill.
PQA is proud to offer numerous performance opportunities. Students can participate in West End shows, local book musicals, and cinema screenings. Our involvement in film festivals allows students to showcase their work to wider audiences, providing invaluable exposure and experience.
For our youngest performers, we offer the Poppets sessions, a 90-minute class that introduces children to singing, dancing, and acting in a fun and engaging way. These sessions culminate in Poppets shows at the end of each term, giving our youngest stars the chance to shine on stage.
Classes at PQA run on Saturdays, with the main academy sessions from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The Poppets sessions are held from 9:45 AM to 11:15 AM and 1:15 PM to 2:45 PM. This schedule ensures that our students have ample time to immerse themselves in their chosen disciplines while accommodating busy family schedules.
At PQA, we believe in the power of the performing arts to transform lives. Our dedicated team of professionals is committed to providing high-quality education and memorable experiences that will inspire and empower the next generation of performers. |
