Toddler Gym, Mini Gym and Gymnastics
Building Confidence Through Gymnastics
Running at Raynes Park Sports Pavilion, Taunton Ave, SW20 0BH, TJ’s Gymnastics classes offer clearly structured programmes for children from 6 months to 12+, concentrating on the development of basic gymnastic skills, co-ordination, spatial awareness and mobility, as well as providing a stimulating environment for increasing social skills.
The hall is fully matted out for our gym classes. There is a porch and waiting area for parents and extensive grounds to enjoy in the Summer months and plenty of free parking!
Tiddler Gym: Up to 12 months
Parent & Baby movement, music and play
A parent-and-baby activity class designed to encourage physical play and interaction between parent and baby. The tactile, bright and stimulating environment changes every week so there’s always something fresh to explore.
Tiddler Gym is designed to offer a fun, safe environment for parent or carer and baby — encouraging physical play and interaction through music, rolling, rocking, crawling and balancing. The equipment is carefully chosen for the Tiddler age range: tactile, bright and engaging for young explorers.
The circuit changes every single week, so there’s always something fresh to discover. It’s also a lovely chance for parents and carers to relax, have a chat, and watch their little ones thrive.

Toddler Gym: Age 1 to 3 years
Action songs, circuits and adventure — together
Parents/Carers assist their Toddler during the warm up time where we use action songs to open the class, encourage the toddlers to listen, copy and join in with the Lead Coaches’ activities.
A parent-accompanied class for 1 to 3 year olds. Each session opens with action songs and a structured warm-up — teaching toddlers to listen, copy and join in before the equipment circuit begins.
Coaches are on hand throughout, helping with climbing, encouraging safe and varied use of the equipment, and building a warm rapport with the children. Sessions close with calming songs to bring little ones together gently before the end of class.

Mini Gym: Age 3 to 4 1/2 years
Independent gymnastics with themes, circuits and confidence
The Mini Gym is an independent class for children aged 3 to 4 years. Parents and carers do not come into the hall, but the doorways remain open to allow viewing. The last week of each term is our Watching Week, when families can come into the hall to watch the class.
We take a different theme each week and start with a short warm-up using music and language that emphasises that theme. The equipment is set up in three circuits, rather than one large circuit as for the toddlers, and after the warm-up the children move into three groups to use circuits built around the same idea. Each week the set-up changes, and as the term progresses the equipment continues to challenge every child.
Each group has its own coach and a maximum of five children. While our first focus is fun, Mini Gym also helps children continue learning the basics of rolling, handstands, springboard use, vaulting, simple bar work, co-ordination, balance, jumping, strength and flexibility. To close the class, all groups join together for a short discussion about what they have been doing, what they liked, what they found easy or hard, and an action song.
Gymnastics: Age 5 and over
Progressive gymnastics for children aged 5+
Competition & Displays
For gymnasts who want to go further, we enter floor and vault and tumbling competitions throughout the year. These are open to children at appropriate levels in our Gymnastics programme and entirely optional — never a requirement.
- Annual Spring end of term display in all Gymnastics classes
- Local competitions for those who want them
- Squad-level preparation for gymnasts pursuing higher levels
- Always optional — we celebrate participation at every level
