HOLY FAMILY NURSERY CHILDREN SPREAD JOY WITH COMMUNITY KINDNESS CHALLENGE
Children at Holy Family Catholic Primary School in Sale have been brightening the local community through a heart-warming Kindness Challenge led by the school’s youngest pupils. Inspired by the school values Together We Succeed, We Care About Respect, Passionate About Learning, and Growing Hearts and Minds, our Nursery Kindness Disciples have been sharing tokens of kindness across Sale Moor and beyond.
One of their weekly initiatives includes visits to the Holy Family Playgroup, where children meet local families, join in with stories and songs, and form new friendships. These sessions are helping to strengthen the relationship between young families and the school, creating a welcoming space where everyone feels part of the Holy Family community.
Each Thursday, a junior class joins morning Mass, accompanied by their year group’s Prayer Ambassadors. Together, they hand out kindness gestures to parishioners before celebrating Mass with the parish community. Many pupils have even enjoyed staying afterwards for refreshments, deepening the connection between school and parish.
On Fridays, the Kindness Disciples take their mission into Sale Moor Village. As they walk, they stop to chat with local residents, hand out tokens of kindness, and deliver special kindness gestures to local businesses to share with their customers. The response has been overwhelming—businesses have donated prizes, which the children have placed around the village in Golden Envelopes for people to find and enjoy. Support for the challenge has stretched beyond the village.
The school received a surprise parcel from Waterstones Altrincham containing three storybooks for the children—after staff there spotted the project on Instagram at @holyfamilysalemoor. Families and local residents have also sent in heart-warming messages describing how the children’s kindness brightened their day.
The whole school community has embraced the challenge. Pupils across all year groups have been busy making kindness tokens, while parents have generously donated items to help the project grow. Even Olympian Beth Tweddle visited the school and heard all about the children’s wonderful work. Holy Family is incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, compassion, and creativity shown by the children.
This challenge is more than an activity—it is a celebration of community spirit and the school’s commitment to nurturing caring, respectful and motivated young people.
