Lord of the Dance- A lifetime of Standing ovations!

If you’re feeling the cold this week and need a bit of fire to warm you up then go to The Alexandra In Birmingham for a night of heat. passion and dance!

I’ve seen a few performances of River dance and Michael Flatley on various TV shows over the years  and one live performance and I must admit I forgot what all the fuss was about?!

That was until I watched it live again last night at The Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham- WOW WOW WOW!                                                                                    We were blown away by the high intensity, the drama, the dancing duels, the light and shade of the story. We were still mesmerized from the first tap to the last, I’m sure I saw sparks fly!

The cast were all superb and their athletic ability to get around the stage was incredible plus they included you in their performance as they wanted you to have a good time with them. And we certainly did, my feet were a tapping and my knees were a jigging! Mathew Smith as the Lord had the energy, the charisma and of course the skills to fill Michael Flatley’s superb tap shoes.

The dance cast were supported by the most amazing singer who had the most exquisite voice that transported you to the Emerald Isle. Plus the foot stomping support of two violinists had us clapping along with gusto!

If you’ve not seen a show live before, book your tickets now, you won’t be disappointed and you’ll come out of the theatre feeling quite euphoric as did all the crowd after the show. I met quite a few people at the train station all with their programmes and everyone of them said it was one of the best shows they’ve seen for a very long time- they’ll be back again and again!
