What’s On for Families This Summer in Brighton & Hove

Summer is here and it’s time for families to get out and about in Brighton and Hove and enjoy all the great things we’ve got going on in our area…

June

15th June – Brighton Yoga Festival
St. George’s Church, Kemp Town, 9.30 am – 7 pm
If you are interested in yoga for you and your child, classes are bookable for beginners and the experienced yoga enthusiast.

21st June – Author Event: Grimwood Party !!!! With Nadia Shireen
The Book Nook, Hove, 4 pm
Book a place at this ticketed event to meet author Nadia Shireen as she introduces her book Grimwood: Party Animals. Prepare for a party with pass the parcel and a game of pin the tail on the fox. Don’t forgot the disco dress code! Ticket price includes a hardback copy of the book which can be signed by the author.

22nd June – The Big Litter Picking Event
Happy Valley Park, Woodingdean, 10 am – 12 pm
Do you bit to help the environment by keeping our green spaces litter free and benefit from time away from screens, connecting to nature.

5th – 7th July – Bluey’s Big Play
Brighton Centre, Brighton, 10 am or 1 pm
For all those Bluey fans, Bluey’s Big Play is coming to the Brighton Centre. Watch Bluey and Bingo try to stop Dad from having a restful Sunday afternoon so that he can play with them instead.

8th July-September 7th Blippi: The Wonderful World Tour at the Harold Pinter Theatre, London

Following the success of the 2023 Olivier Award-nominated debut, Blippi The Musical, Blippi returns to London to the Harold Pinter Theatre from 8th July to 7th September.

Join Blippi and Meekah for the ultimate curiosity adventure live on stage! So, come on! Dance, sing, and learn with Blippi and special guest Meekah as they discover what makes different cities unique and special. Will there be monster trucks, excavators, and garbage trucks galore? You bet! So, get ready to shake those wiggles out and OJ Twist your way through this brand-new musical party!

20th July – Brighton Brick Festival
Amex Stadium , Brighton, 10 am  – 4pm
Do you have Lego enthusiasts in your household? If so, then head to the Brighton Brick Festival to see the amazing displays, take part in activities, compete in competitions and buy new and old Lego.

20th July – Stanmer Organics 25th Anniversary Free Open Day
Stanmer Park, Falmer, 11 am – 9pm (plots open until 4/5pm)
Visit the plots and meet the growers, whilst enjoying food drink and music at the EarthShip. Workshops, woodcraft and crafts available.

22nd July – 26th July – Swerve Soccer Day Camps
BHASVIC College, Hove, 10 am – 3 pm
Other dates available in July and August – please see website.
For football fans aged between 5 and 13 years old, Swerve Soccer camps take place daily. Players take part in matches, World Cup tournaments, Swerve challenges and lunchtime competitions.

30th July – 1st August – The Little Mermaid
Brighton Open Air Theatre, 2 pm
A family friendly theatre production suitable for all ages. Enjoy this classic tale in open air surroundings.

3rd August – Brighton and Hove Pride LGBTQ+ Community Parade 2024
Starts at Hove Lawns and finishes at Preston Park, Brighton
Enjoy this all-singing and all-dancing carnival of colour as it parades through the streets of Brighton and Hove to celebrate Pride in true rainbow style.

5th August – 8th August – Wilderness Warrior Camp
The Mac’s Farm, Ditchling
Enjoy a 3 night family camping stay with forest school activities for the children and access to a bar, street food, plus morning coffee and crepes.

10th August – Sealife Beach Clean
Sealife Brighton, 11am
If you are a keen conservationist and value marine life, then join the Sealife Beach Clean to ensure that Brighton Beach stays clean and safe for wildlife and for our enjoyment.

17th August – Tiny Pickles and Long Nose Puppets Presents: Du Iz Tak?
Ironworks Studios, Brighton, 11 am and 12.30 pm
Explore the magical world of insects, their life cycles and how they communicate in this family friendly engaging puppet show.

21st August – Treasure Island
Brighton Open Air Theatre, 1 pm
A swashbuckling performance of a true classic for all those pirate fans. Follow Jim Hawkins as he tries to find the treasure before Long John Silver.

27th August – Summer Holiday Beach Volleyball
Yellowave Beach Sports, Brighton, 10 – 11 am (5 – 7 years), 11 am – 12 pm (8 – 11 years) and 12 pm – 1 pm (12 – 16 years)

Why not try beach volleyball this Summer – no experience is needed. Each session includes fun games, skills and drills. You can always combine your volleyball session with a ride on the nearby Volks Railway.

31st August – Butterfly Sip and Paint Workshop
Pinot and Picasso, Brighton, 10 am
Family friendly session aimed at children, aged over 6 and their families, to produce a butterfly inspired masterpiece whilst indulging in some soft drinks and snacks.

8th September – Tim Peake: Astronauts – The Quest to Explore Space
The Brighton Dome, 2pm and 7.30 pm
Listen to Tim’s recounts about his own experiences of space and significant missions from the past. Hear all about what it is like living without gravity and how gruelling training is.
