The Belgrade Panto – Jack and the Beanstalk
The Belgrade Panto is back with Jack and the Beanstalk for its 2022 run. Iain Lauchlan and the team from Imagine Theatre kicked off their run with the usual hilarious mayhem and crazy capers.
We had high expectations as we headed to the theatre to see this year’s Belgrade Panto. If previous years are anything to go by we knew we were going to be in for a treat…… we weren’t wrong! As well as all of the long established elements of pantomime that you expect to see, it was great to see a ‘post-COVID’ return to the traditions of having an audience member on stage to participate with a scene of ‘custard pie’ silliness and a group of young children volunteering to help the cast with a song.
The pantomime has been a firm fixture in my family’s run up to Christmas for some time. As always there were plenty of laughs and audience participation. The team responsible for the Dame’s costumes really surpassed themselves this year – they were absolutely outstanding! A perfect evening of escapism!
