A visit to Marwell Zoo is a chance to get close to the wonders of the natural world. From meerkats to majestic giraffes, endangered tigers to a sleepy sloth, their 140-acre park is home to an incredible range of exotic and endangered species.
Marwell's biggest ever exhibit, the new ‘Energy for Life’ Tropical House opened in 2018 and marks the second phase of a decade long £17m investment programme for the zoo. The developments aim to create improved habitats for animals and more immersive experiences for guests. Tropical House spans two levels offering fantastic vantage points across a lush, tropical canopy and the opportunity to experience the captivating life of the forest floor. Guests will be able to enjoy uninterrupted, close-up views of colourful and charismatic mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and insects.
Spend time with Marwell's playful primates at 'Lemur Loop'. The walkthrough exhibit offers the chance to get up close to peafowl and 3 species of lemur, all while enjoying the beautifully landscaped habitat of these engaging animals. With a beautiful landscaped setting, both indoors and out, the new lemur exhibit promises a truly immersive experience.
Enjoy the African Wilderness first hand at Wild Explorers, home to white rhino, Grevy's zebra and scimitar-horned oryx. Complete with a safari vehicle resting by the water hole, this exhibit will awaken your inner explorer as you learn how to radio-track; how to decipher clues from bones in the sand, or how to identify individual zebras through their unique stripes. You'll enjoy a cracking view of the animals, both near and far, from the raised observation boardwalk - the perfect spot for little legs to run wild.
When you fancy a break and the kids want to play, stop by at one of the five fantastic adventure playgrounds for some fun or even take them for a relaxing ride on either the rail train or the free road train.
Marwell Zoo also offers guests a programme of fascinating talks and feeds on a range of animal species throughout the day including giraffes, meerkats and penguins.
Just by visiting Marwell Zoo (owned and operated by conservation charity Marwell Wildlife) you'll be making a big contribution to their projects to conserve species and habitats both in Hampshire and around the world.
