Every week at the Jerwood DanceHouse on the Ipswich Waterfront, DanceEast hosts over 50 dance classes and courses. There is a huge variety of styles for all ages and abilities, including contemporary, creative dance, musical theatre and just for tots, just to name just a few. Classes are a great way to have fun, make new friends and learn something new!
Jolly Tots and Tots & Co are fun and sociable classes for parents with tots aged four and under. Classes use themes, music, props, games and imagination, designed to enhance children’s co-ordination and rhythm, and nurture their natural love of movement in a structured but relaxed environment.
Creative Ballet, Creative Dance and Creative Hip Hop introduce children under seven to dancing basics, while encouraging their natural ability and enjoyment. Teachers use dance games and creative play to inspire the children to move and generate movement. Children will learn easy-to-follow sequences, as well as concentration, listening skills and technique.
DanceEast also runs a range of youth performance groups, offering the opportunity to collaborate with guest choreographers, and to perform at local, regional and national platforms. Boys United, for those aged 10 – 15, and Suffolk Junior Dance Company, for those 11 – 15, encourage participants to develop their dance skills in a fun and expressive environment.
Summer School at DanceEast is an opportunity for young dancers to take part in intensive dance activity during the holidays, with a range of dance styles taught by professional tutors. Summer School offers the chance for participants to perform and work creatively with others in a fun-packed, energy-filled week of dance, where friendships are made and new skills are learned.
For gifted and talented young dancers aged 10 – 18, who would like to pursue a dance career, the DanceEast Centre for Advanced Training provides world-class, pre-vocational dance training. The programme supports and nurtures young people from the East of England, and has a 100% success rate of students continuing dance training at Further or Higher Education level.
