Wolverhampton Art Gallery Summer Holiday Activities

Wolverhampton Art Gallery Summer Holiday Activities

This summer, Wolverhampton Art Gallery and Bantock House Gardens are bursting with colour, creativity, and imagination! Whether your child loves painting, building, coding, or playing outdoors, we’ve got something magical in store for every age and interest.

Creative Thursdays at Wolverhampton Art Gallery

Every Thursday | 10:30am–3:30pm | Ages 5–16
Family Workshop Programme: Come As You Really Are. Join us for our Family Workshop Programme, inspired by our upcoming exhibition Come As You Really Are, which celebrates hobbies from the Black Country and beyond. Each Thursday, young artists can explore new techniques in a series of artist-led workshops, repeated in shorter sessions throughout the day (approx. 1 hour each), so you can book a time that suits you. Before or after their session, families are encouraged to visit the exhibition for a dose of inspiration and to see how everyday passions can become extraordinary creations. Children will take home their own handmade creations, sparked by the joy of making and the spirit of collecting.

Workshops include:

  • Make a Toy Bear – Stitch your own cuddly soft toy.
  • Stitch Your Story: Sashiko Bookmarks – Try Japanese embroidery with upcycled fabrics.
  • Puppet Making: Unlikely Friends – Craft imaginative puppets from recycled materials.
  • Weave It! – Learn handloom weaving using repurposed threads.
  • Model Making – 3D Cityscape – Build a miniature building for a collaborative city display.
  • Marvellous Macramé – Create colourful macramé feathers with natural cotton and wood.

All sessions are fun, accessible, and designed to inspire creativity!

Coding Boot Camps

Every Tuesday | Ages 6–16

Step into the world of tech with our hands-on coding sessions! Learn the basics of Scratch and Python using Raspberry Pi Foundation resources. Create games, solve puzzles, and build your digital confidence.
