Summer at Severn Valley Railway

Summer at Severn Valley Railway

All aboard for the Severn Valley Railway

We can’t wait to welcome you on board the Severn Valley Railway this summer. Step back in time to experience the golden age of travel with journeys behind original steam trains and heritage diesel locomotives.

A journey on the Railway allows you to discover beautifully restored original stations, travel through woodlands and across the famous 200ft cast-iron Victoria Bridge, all from comfy seats in lovingly-restored carriages.

The Engine House Highley is at the mid-point of the line and an ideal stop off point. Get close to some very special locomotives including ‘Gordon’ the blue engine and take a peek through the windows of King George VI’s royal carriage. You can also enjoy lunch on the balcony and watch the trains pass by.

This summer, families can watch a live theatre show at The Engine House – Robin Hood and his Merry Friends. This immersive show is packed with playful panto moments, puppets and plenty of audience interaction. Robin Hood and his Animal Friends is a joyful, family friendly show celebrating teamwork, bravery, and care for our environment.

The theatre show lasts around 30 minutes and takes place Tuesdays to Thursdays from 21 July to 27 August. The theatre show is free of charge to those who travel by heritage train and tickets can be booked via the website.

Trains operate between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth. The trains stop at all of our intermediate stations, so you can get off to explore Bewdley, Arley, Highley and Hampton Loade. At Kidderminster and Bridgnorth, the trains take a short break, so you can see the locomotives up close.
