Journey through 420 million years of history as you discover how Dudley transformed from a warm tropical sea filled with fascinating marine life into the heart of the Industrial Revolution. Along the way, meet colourful characters and hear incredible stories inspired by geologists, miners and leggers who helped shape the region’s rich heritage.
Families can join Navvy on fun-filled morning adventures, while our talented skippers take the helm for engaging afternoon tours. Young explorers can also enjoy hands-on activities that bring history and science to life, helping them put their new discoveries into practice.
With fascinating stories, interactive learning, and plenty of family fun, there’s something for all ages to enjoy – and all activities are included in your ticket!
For little explorers: Tunnel Tots
If you have younger children, Dudley Canal & Caverns also runs Tunnel Tots every Wednesday and Friday. These gentle 20-minute boat trips take little ones through the historic tunnels, followed by storytelling, crafts and stay-and-play activities.
Boats depart at 10am, with tickets just £2.50 per visitor. Each child can bring up to two accompanying adults, and pushchairs can be stored safely on the towpath during the boat trip. The attraction also has step-free access and baby-changing facilities, making it a particularly family-friendly option.
It’s a lovely, budget-friendly morning out for toddlers and younger children – and a gentle introduction to the fascinating world beneath Dudley!
