Middy Railway and Land Rover Day
Land Rover Day this year combines both military and civilian models into one show to give visitors a better impression of the number of variations which have been made to this iconic British design over the years. The Land Rover Series 1 entered production in 1948 and, although the inspiration was from WW11 jeeps, it was the first ever 4-wheel drive civilian vehicle. The Middy was still in operation for another 4 years when the first Land Rovers were making their presence felt in agricultural and light industrial use.
The Middy volunteers will be in action to provide the vintage train rides in our genuine Victorian 4-wheeled coaches and all the Middy’s normal facilities will be available including the Museum, Restoration Shed visits, Tea Room and the Middy Real Ale Bar.
