Help us create a collaborative artwork build by artist Jane Plowright that rewilds our city! Imagine city centre traffic replaced with leafy woodland. The perfume of wildflowers instead of traffic fumes. Butterflies, birdsong, fruit trees and herb gardens in the Mander Centre. Tree houses, swings, zip wires -.a solar powered Ferris wheel in Dudley Street?! Visitors are invited to pick up a palette and paintbrush and step into the 3D projected reality booth to add their own version of nature to Wolverhampton’s streets.

Microworld Wolves: A Digital Adventure
22 July to 28 August 2023
Microworlds are immersive spaces filled with digital creatures. The creatures respond to each other and you! Microworlds are digital ecosystems with cascades of actions and reactions. Each Microworld is a celebration of a new type of living art that encourages experimentation and collaborative play.

Wednesday Art Drop Ins
10.30am-1.30pm every Wednesday during the summer holidays. Get creative with fun materials and imaginative activities, inspired by Microworld Wolves exhibition.

Secret Light Box Micro-World
Wednesday 26 July
Join artist Rob Conway to create your own hidden micro-world in a box full of colourful patterns and sparkly shapes. Light it up and take a peek at the imaginary space.
Mind Bending Optical Toys
Wednesday 2 August
Explore your imagination making clever retro toys that play tricks on your eyes with artist Benny Semp. Twist your senses by making a colourful spinning top, thrill everyone with a magical thaumatrope, and boggle your mind with an impossible flexagon.
Silurian Clay Creatures
Wednesday 9 August
Join artist Kate Tilley for some pre-historic clay play and learn how to model ancient mini-creatures to take home with you.
Microbe Textile Sculpture
Wednesday 16 August
Explore fluorescent textile materials with artist Ruth Turnbull to create some neon microbiology soft sculptures using simple textile techniques such as wrapping, tying, pompom & tassel making, holing and pulling, stuffing and attaching.
Underwater Aliens
Wednesday 23 August
Try out a variety of acrylic paint techniques and ink blowing art with artist Kathleen Fabre to design your own deep sea alien creatures and create a colourful painting using fluorescent paints.
Create Your Own Animal Forest
Wednesday 30 August
Have fun making your own animal forest with artist Kom Achall, using bright materials, colourful paper, sequins, buttons and ribbons to create magical woodlands for animals to enjoy all year round.

To celebrate all things Football and the This Is Our Love exhibition about the beautiful game, join artist Tat Vision to create and decorate your own tatter box head – make it your favourite footballer or someone/thing else entirely!

Art Play

Our creative, sensory play sessions for families with babies and toddlers are led by artists and early years’ educators. Take time to relax, imagine and find inspiration together.
