Bath Lane 10.30am – 4pm Market stalls and food vendors, arts and crafts tent and traditional Chinese games. Photo opportunities throughout the day with a Chinese dragon. All free to attend, excluding food vendors.
Chinese Arch, from 11.15am – traditional Chinese dance performances, Tai Chi demonstrations, VIP gathering and welcome
Grey’s Monument
10.45am – Dragon Eye Dotting Ceremony
A historic traditional ritual awakening and blessing the new dragon, with a compère explaining the symbolism to the crowd.
11.30am Chinese Lunar New Year Parade
The parade sets off from Grey’s Monument, travelling along Blackett Street towards Stowell Street, arriving at the Chinese Arch at the entrance to Chinatown between 12.15pm – 12.30pm.
Following arrival, performers will disperse. Edmund Ng Kung Fu Lion and Dragon Club will perform a martial arts, dragon and lion display before continuing the celebrations through Chinatown, Monk Street, Fenkle Street and end at Bath Lane at approximately 3.30pm.
