Big Hat Bushcamp
5-day Easter Holiday Kids’ Club
The aim of Big Hat Bushcamp is to give children and adults the ultimate bushcraft experience and leave all who visit the Bushcamp with the knowledge and confidence to safely enjoy the outdoors.
Running from 9 to 5 each day, we use the time we have with our young adventurers to develop their skills further than on any other course were offer, in areas such as firelighting, campfire cooking, woodcraft and stealth games.
Outdoor adventures for children and families at Big Hat Bushcamp
Big Hat Bushcamp has been running now for over a decade, on beautiful private woodland in Lyne, Chertsey.
Established by former Army officer Ian Brember, to get kids outdoors and trying their hand at traditional skills and bushcraft techniques, Big Hat run activities such as:
- Matchless firelighting
- Campfire cooking
- Improvised shelter building
- Jungle camp construction
- Woodworking
- Wilderness navigation
- Forest games
As important as it is to help kids and families reconnect with nature and outdoor skills, the bushcraft activities are primarily used as a vehicle to develop confidence, communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills in the young adventurers visiting our camp. There are few things as rewarding as eating a meal you’ve cooked yourself, over fire you’ve lit yourself, with a spoon you’ve carved yourself.
