BAM: Babies’ Adventures In Music Summer Concert Tour in Wolverhampton

BAM: Babies’ Adventures In Music Summer Concert Tour in Wolverhampton

Beautiful music events for babies and their grown-ups are coming to a family hub or community space near you this summer!

Wolverhampton based arts organisation Curiosity Productions have received funding from the UK Government through Wolverhampton Family Hubs to bring the beautiful BAM: Babies’ Adventures in Music concerts to communities across Wolverhampton in special events in or near to each family hub this summer. The aim of the events is both to support the wellbeing of babies and their caregivers through a special musical experience, and to connect families to services that can support them.

Parents and carers are invited to treat themselves and their babies to a special musical experience with BAM: Babies’ Adventures In Music. This warmly interactive performance celebrates music from around the world with many instruments, styles, gentle movements and stimulating sounds. Featuring singing, harp, accordion and an array of stringed instruments, BAM creates a magical experience for babies and their caregivers.

Previous BAM audiences have said…

‘This was truly magical and so creative! I got quite emotional halfway through. Thank you for a very special afternoon’

‘Lovely show with great sensory visuals & songs. Our 3 month old was transfixed!’

‘Lovely and unique musical magic. Very enjoyable for me and the little one (particularly like the interactive elements).’

‘Really beautiful show. My 13 month old was mesmerized and was doing her own version of singing and dancing along by the end! Not your usual baby session. So lovely to be able to see brilliant professional musicians playing beautiful music with my little one, been a while since I’ve been able to go to a concert, so it was lovely for me too.’

Families can come to either the 11am or 2pm concert and also enjoy a free lunch and an information fair for parents and carers between 12pm and 2pm. The concerts give caregivers an opportunity to relax and have a special experience with their baby. The information fair will give them an opportunity to find out what services and support are available for them and their family in Wolverhampton.

Tickets are FREE or pay what you can.

Sam Fox, one of the BAM musicians says:

We’re really delighted to be coming to Wolverhampton for this tour linked to the Family Hubs. We actually first met at Wolverhampton Arts Centre many years ago when it was NAC, so it’s a special place for us. As parents as well as musicians, we know how positive it is for children to experience live music at a very early age. We have also been researching the impact of our concerts on parental wellbeing with the Public Health Research Officer at Midlands Arts Centre, and will be sharing our findings at the Music & Parental Wellbeing Symposium at the Royal College of Music, London at the end of July. It’s great that we can work with the family hubs to bring this special experience to Wolverhampton families and also help to connect them to services and support.’

Curiosity Productions have also received Family Hubs funding to set up two projects in Heath Town: a new creative stay and play for early years and a Saturday Club for children aged 5-16. Messy Makers Stay & Play started on Friday 4th July at Sant Ashram on Woden Road in partnership with Hope Community Project. Saturday Curiosity Club will start on 13th September at St Patrick’s Church Hall near New Cross Hospital after Curiosity Productions have delivered HAF Curiosity Club holiday activities there in August.

Creative Director of Curiosity Productions, Jenny Martin says:

‘We’re so excited to have the opportunity to offer all of these wonderful creative activities to families in Wolverhampton. We’ve been delivering projects and events in the city for eight years and these Family Hubs projects build on that work and the connections we have made, especially through delivering the HAF holiday activities in Heath Town for the last few years. Kids in Wolverhampton have so much imagination and creativity, we feel honoured to have the opportunity to help them to discover their creative potential. It’s fantastic to be giving parents and carers some special experiences with their very little ones too. We’re particularly delighted to bring the fantastic musicians Fox & Rocha to our city with BAM’
