St Johns House, a Jacobean mansion located in Warwick, has a history spanning almost 900 years. The land on which it stands was originally used as a hospital in the 12th century.
The current house has been used as a private residence, a school and administrative offices of the War Department.
Latterly the building was bought by Warwickshire County Council and turned into a museum, which opened to the public in 1960.
The ground floor is closed to the general public and used exclusively by local school children for activities and learning sessions, galleries include a Victorian kitchen and schoolroom, displays on childhood, toys and games, costumes and learning space.
There are also lovely gardens where you can sit and enjoy a picnic.

The museum occupies the ground floor of the building, with the majority of the exhibition accessible on one level.
The upper floor houses The Royal Warwickshire Regiment of Fusiliers Museum, which is only accessible via the original staircase – no lift is available.
