Name of business and person’s name

Tatton Park Farm – Hannah Booth

Tell us about the business

We are a Farm attraction based in the estate of Tatton Park in Cheshire. Where we are home to a number of different rare breed animals, from chickens and goats right up to our gentle giants the shire horses. We are open to the public 6 days a week, helping tell the story of field to fork.

What’s your role there, and what does a typical day look like?

My role is Farm assistant, my main key areas are looking after the goats and all the poultry we have here on the farm.

My day starts at 7.30am where we come in to start feeding and mucking out all our animals, then from 10am we get the animals back in from the fields into their pens ready to meet the public from 11am. We spend the day in summer running activities every 30 mins, from educational meet the chicks talks to sheep racing! Then we feed everyone their tea, clean pens and then turn out animals back into their fields by 5pm ready to do it all again the next day.

What is your favourite part of your job?

It would have to be seeing and helping new life into the world, we have just had some gorgeous Royal Golden Guernsey Goat kids born in July and to see them skipping around the pens is the best thing ever.

What’s one thing people might not know about the business?

That the farm has been around since the 18th Century!

What’s coming up that you’re excited about?

Our next few big events, at the end of August we have our Country Fayre and then pick a pumpkin starts middle of October.

Where’s your favourite place to chill out in the area when you’re not working?

Would have to be the goat pen, nothing better than sitting in the pen surrounded by bouncing baby goat kids.

Any other fun facts you’d like to share or comments to add?

Did you know that Golden Guernsey Goat gained the Royal title from the king himself back in 2024.
