Big Hat Bushcamp – The ultimate bushcraft experience for the whole family.
Outdoor adventures for children and families at Big Hat Bushcamp
Big Hat Bushcamp has been running now for over a decade, on beautiful private woodland in Lyne, Chertsey.
Established by former Army officer Ian Brember, to get kids outdoors and trying their hand at traditional skills and bushcraft techniques, Big Hat run activities such as:
- Matchless firelighting
- Campfire cooking
- Improvised shelter building
- Jungle camp construction
- Woodworking
- Wilderness navigation
- Forest games
With day and overnight sessions running throughout the year, in the form of:
- Holiday camps
- Birthday parties
- Family camping weekends
- School day trips and residentials.
- And home-education sessions
As important as it is to help kids and families reconnect with nature and outdoor skills, the bushcraft activities are primarily used as a vehicle to develop confidence, communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills in the young adventurers visiting our camp. There are few things as rewarding as eating a meal you’ve cooked yourself, over fire you’ve lit yourself, with a spoon you’ve carved yourself.
