Homemade burgers with mozzarella cheese
Family Meals

We all love a burger don’t we? Here’s a simple recipe for delicious homemade burgers with mozzarella cheese, which the whole family will love…
Ingredients
Ingredients:
- For the burger patties:
- 1 lb (450g) minced beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)
- 1 onion thinly diced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- ½ tsp chilli powder ( optional)
- For the assembly:
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices mozzarella cheese (fresh or regular)
- Lettuce (optional)
- Tomato slices (optional)
- Ketchup, mustard, or your favourite condiments (optional)
- Pickles (optional)
Method
- Prepare the Patties:
- In a bowl, mix the minced beef, diced onion, salt & pepper (chilli powder & garlic powder if required)
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions.
- Form each portion into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick. Use your thumb to make a small indent in the centre of each patty (this helps them cook evenly).
- Cook the Patties:
- Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side for medium doneness. Adjust the cooking time depending on your preference (longer for well-done).
- About 1 minute before the patties are done, place a slice of mozzarella cheese on top of each patty and cover with a lid to melt the cheese.
- Toast the Buns:
- While the burgers are cooking, toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- Assemble the Burgers:
- Place the cooked patties with melted mozzarella on the bottom half of each bun.
- Add any desired toppings such as lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, or mustard.
- Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve:
- Serve the burgers hot with your favourite side dish (chips, or salad).
We hope you really enjoy your delicious homemade mozzarella cheese burgers!
