Winter Adventures: Shadow’s Snowy Return at Ickworth Estate

Meet Shadow the Snow Leopard and follow his festive adventures around Ickworth’s beautiful Rotunda this Christmas.

A familiar face is returning to Ickworth Estate this Christmas, and he’s bringing some friends along for the adventure!

Shadow the Ickworth Snow Leopard is back for Winter Adventures: Shadow’s Snowy Return, a festive experience inviting families to follow Shadow and his friends as they get up to mischief around the Rotunda.

The story takes visitors into Shadow’s wintry world, with the Rotunda dressed to bring the tale to life. The story has been written by Bethan Davidson in collaboration with the National Trust team at Ickworth Estate.

It’s a lovely excuse to enjoy a Christmas visit to Ickworth, with a little storytelling magic along the way.

When is Shadow’s Snowy Return?

The experience runs from 2 December 2026 until 3 January 2027, between 11am and 3pm on the advertised event dates.

There is no need to book in advance, so families can simply include it in their visit.

How much does it cost?

The Shadow’s Snowy Return experience is free, but normal admission charges to Ickworth Estate apply. Check the National Trust website for current admission prices before setting off.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes! The National Trust lists the experience as suitable for all ages, making it a festive outing for little ones and older children alike.

A couple of practical things to know before visiting: the house can be cold, so wrap up warmly. Prams cannot be taken into the Rotunda, but can be stored under the Portico or in the West Wing. The team can offer guidance when you arrive.
