Looking for family events in August 2026? We’ve rounded up some of the best things to do with kids during the summer school holidays in and around Kidderminster, Stourbridge, Dudley, Bewdley, Stourport and the surrounding areas.

🧱 Wild Bricks – Dudley Zoo & Castle

Throughout August 

Brick fans won’t want to miss Wild Bricks, a trail featuring 17 life-sized endangered animals built from thousands of toy bricks. Explore the zoo and castle as you search for the sculptures, with plenty more to see and do during your visit.

🦁 K-Pop Safari Summer – West Midlands Safari Park

Throughout August

Combine animals and adventure with a K-Pop twist! Enjoy K-Pop shows, meet-and-greets and plenty of safari fun, alongside the Safari Drive, Safari Walk and Adventure Theme Park.

🧙 Room on the Broom Trail Fun Day – Wyre Forest

12 August

Celebrate 25 years of Room on the Broom with a special family fun day at Wyre Forest, featuring outdoor games, arts and crafts, woodland activities and a chance to meet the Witch from the story. Free activities – no booking required.

🎭 Mrs Doubtfire The Musical – Birmingham Hippodrome

From 13 August

The hilarious West End musical Mrs Doubtfire comes to Birmingham Hippodrome from 13 August, making a great option for families with older children and theatre fans.

Summer Makers Market

📅 22 – 23 August

Red House Glass Cone, 11-4pm

Discover independent makers exhibiting, as well as the Red House Glass Cone’s very own artisan craft studios and on-site café. Browse handmade gifts, contemporary craft, glass, jewellery, ceramics, textiles and more. This is a part of ‘A Celebration of Glass’ across Stourbridge Glass Quarter 21-23 August: Find more information here

 

🔫 Open Laser Battle Sessions – Iverley Outdoor Adventures

2, 16, 23 & 31 August

Enjoy three action-packed team games using laser tag equipment. Sessions are suitable for children, families and friends, with limited places available so advance booking is recommended. You can even bring a picnic to enjoy afterwards!

🌿 Family Nature Discovery Days – Bishops Wood

📅 5, 12, 19 & 26 August

Get outdoors and discover nature at Bishops Wood near Stourport-on-Severn. Activities can include pond exploration, meadow sweeping, minibeast hunting and discovering wildlife, with sessions suitable for different age groups.

🚂 Summer at Severn Valley Railway

📅 Throughout August

Climb aboard the Severn Valley Railway for a steam train adventure between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth. There are also special events throughout August, including:

8–9 August: Vintage Transport Extravaganza
15 August: Singing on the Train
22–23 August: Art & Craft Fayre

There are also performances of Robin Hood and his Animal Friends at The Engine House at Highley on selected Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until 27 August.

🚤 The Underground Experience – Dudley Canal & Caverns
Go beneath Dudley on a unique family boat trip through 250-year-old tunnels and huge underground caverns. The 45-minute experience combines fascinating history with spectacular light and sound shows – and is a great option for a family day out, whatever the weather! There’s also the NAVVY Underground Family Adventure during the school holidays.

🏛️ Summer at Black Country Living Museum 
Step back in time with historic characters, demonstrations, vintage transport, fairground rides and family activities. Look out for Summer Lates every Friday too.

🔬 Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum
There’s lots happening at Thinktank over the summer holidays, including Dino Dig, dinosaur activities, Zoolab’s Jurassic Encounters, planetarium shows and more.

🌳 Summer at Bodenham Arboretum 
Follow the Secret Lives of the Scarecrows family trail, explore miles of woodland walks and meet the farmyard animals, including the friendly donkeys.

🌲 Forest School & Wilderness Explorer Sessions – Bodenham Arboretum
Get outdoors with bushcraft, den building, natural crafts, woodland exploration and other Forest School-style activities.

🌿 Summer Play Days – Arley Arboretum
📅 5–23 August
Enjoy classic outdoor games, creative activities and playful challenges in the beautiful gardens. Summer admission is just £3.50 per child and £7.66 per adult.

✈️ Summer at RAF Museum Midlands – Cosford
Enjoy a fantastic free family day out, with aircraft to explore, free Airfix model-making sessions, an RAF-themed playground and the RAF Falcons parachute display on 9 August.

🐷 Peppa Pig Space Adventure – NEC Birmingham
Blast off with Peppa Pig and her friends on an interactive space adventure, with hands-on play, storytelling and plenty of surprises. Under-2s go free!

🌳 Nature Trail & Bug Hunt – Hagley Park
Look out for local wildlife and see if you can spot all the hidden bugs along the way, with garden games and summer treats available too. No booking required and maps are provided. Reduced summer admission prices are available until 1 September as part of the Great British Summer Savings Scheme.

🐄 Summer at Lower Drayton Farm 
Enjoy six weeks of summer fun including animals, outdoor play, a maize trail, dinosaurs, foam parties and more.

🎨 Summer at Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum
Discover the 54321FAB! summer exhibition, family trails and creative activities including Get Arty Thursdays and FAB Fridays.

🏛️ Summer Fun at The Commandery – Worcester
Enjoy family trails, creative activities and the chance to discover more about Worcester’s fascinating history.

🏰 Summer at Hartlebury Castle
Solve the Battle Plan Mystery Trail, get creative with summer crafts and explore the castle, museum, grounds and woodland walks.

🧚 Summer Fairy Trail – Whitlenge Gardens
Follow the Teddy Bears Summer Vacation themed fairy trail, explore the gardens and let the children enjoy the play area.
